Installing Reliable Gutter Systems

Gutters are an essential part of protecting your home from the potential damages of rainwater. By properly diverting the water, you can protect your roof, foundation and the paint and siding of your home.

At Calgary Roofing & Restoration, we are proud to offer quality residential and commercial gutter installation for seamless gutters, box gutters and so much more. This quality craftsmanship will ensure the best protection against the weather while maintaining an attractive appearance for your home.

Pro advice: To drain properly, a gutter should slope at least ¼ inch for every 10 feet of run. Increasing the pitch increases a gutter’s handling capacity, but the gutter may look askew over the long run. The easiest way to check pitch: dump in a bucket of water and watch how it flows.

K-Style Gutters

K-style gutters are currently the most popular style of gutters available to protect your home from water damage. Some of the benefits of the K-style gutters are:

  • They can hold more water than a rounded style gutter.
  • Can be extruded as a seamless gutter.
  • Offers a stylish appearance for the home’s exterior, strong and durable.
  • Since this style has a flat back, the gutter hangers can be screwed directly to the fascia board
With a K-style system, you have the options of 5″ or 6″ gutters, 2″ x 3″, 3″ x 4″ or 4″ round downspouts, with or without leaf guard systems, and they can be made seamless with aluminum or copper.

Seamless Gutters

Seamless gutters offer the best leak protection as there are only seams at corners and at end caps. Typical gutter installation is with miter strips and screws, but we also have the ability to make hand-mitered corners, securing them with rivets, for all seamless gutter systems rather than using miter strips. This ensures a great seal at the corners and creates a more attractive joint, much like a picture frame that has barely visible seams at the corners.

Seamless gutters can be made for 5″ and 6″ K-style, half-round and box gutter systems.

Box Gutters

Box gutters are built-in gutter systems that are typically found in older historic homes. They’re durable and easy to repair and offer clean lines on a home. The difference between box gutters and aluminum gutters is that they are part of the actual roof’s structure.

Box gutters are usually made of wood framing with a sheet metal lining, such as copper, stainless steel or tin. The sheet metal creates a water trough for the water to make its way to the downspout.

Because box gutters are usually over one-foot-wide, they rarely get clogged or overflow. Copper and stainless steel box gutter linings are great because they require very little maintenance compared to tin box gutter systems. Tin linings can require painting every five years and must be cleared of debris to prevent rust and corrosion. We have a quality product that offers an easy repair process.

Half-Round Gutters

Half-round gutters are popular on historic and modern homes and buildings. They can be made seamless with aluminum or copper or in sections in paint grip steel. Many people find these gutters more elegant than other styles.

They are installed with 4″ round downspouts and have options to be installed with hidden hangers or exposed brackets and with or without leaf guard systems. Half-round gutters hold less water than other K-style systems, but they don’t have problems with adequate drainage due to the size of the gutter and downspout.

Screws and Hangers

Screws and hangers are used to level gutters front to back. The T-wedge works best with fascia hangers. For fascia brackets, use solid wedges.

Spike and Ferrule

This part bridges the interior of the gutter, largely hidden from view but interferes with cleaning. Hangers with built-in screws hold better than spikes and don’t mar gutter faces.
